I remember, one fall, my sister and my brother would rake the leaves in our backyard, and rather than make a pile, we spread the leaves evenly out over the open side of the yard and then formed a large maze by shuffling our feet through the leaves, creating winding paths.

I remember the magazine, Ranger Rick and the desire to become a marine biologists. I’m still envious of people who kept that dream alive.
