I remember my Gramps would always keep mini apple juice cans in the garage refrigerator just for me. Since I never have, or ever will, drink soda, he helped me feel cool holding my tiny can or juice, fitting in with the rest of the family.
bette davis eyes April 9, 2008
I remember, getting into an argument with my first grade teacher, Mrs. Keating about the existence of people with green eyes. I had green eyes, and I exist.
bend it like a Rainbow April 9, 2008
I remember, on my soccer team, the Rainbows, there was a girl with short curly brown hair, who at kickoff, kicked a goal. It didn’t count, but it was AWESOME.
best grunge impression April 9, 2008
I remember, for Christmas in 6th grade, my Mom gave me this AWESOME vest that was patch worked flannel and was all quilty looking. I think my friend took a picture of me in it.
tubular April 3, 2008
I remember, our preschool had this eight foot long, four foot wide, brown painted metal tube that we played in at the play yard. One could get in the tube (or 10 people) and then others could push the tube across the yard. Kids would fall out, kids would get trampled and kids would get injured. It was the best fun, ever.
portable classrooms April 3, 2008
I remember, the green, uncleaned carpet which covered the floor of our portable in the 6th grade. Older than old, and in a portable classroom that was colder than cold, I doubt it met any health codes or standards of living.
Candy Bar! April 2, 2008
I remember in the 5th grade, to raise money to go on our class trip to Washington D.C. we had to sell Snickers bars. 4 miniature bars per box, and each box was a dollar. Now when I see kids selling candy, its 3 dollars for a single Hersey bar. Rip-off.
Falling Leaves April 2, 2008
I remember, one fall, my sister and my brother would rake the leaves in our backyard, and rather than make a pile, we spread the leaves evenly out over the open side of the yard and then formed a large maze by shuffling our feet through the leaves, creating winding paths.
Christmas Cheer April 2, 2008
I remember, my mom, who was pregnant with my brother, picking out a green glitter miniature pram Christmas ornament.
soft and clean March 31, 2008
I remember getting in trouble by Mrs. Cadena when I pulled out a brush in the middle of class and started to untangle my hair.
Lady Liberty March 29, 2008
I remember, “Howdy neighbor, happy day, we’re here to cheer you on your way, with a song, and a smile, and a yippee-ki-yay, we the people, U.S.A,” which was the opening line to my 2nd grade play. The only reason I got to play Lady Liberty, was becuase Erica Dowes was kidnapped by her father and I was her understudy.
